Write for us
We welcome considered pitches and contributions about the landscapes, communities, places, work and culture of the West. Send proposals through the Contact page, with enough detail for us to understand the story and why it suits Western News Spotlight.
What we are looking for
Strong contributions take a clear subject and give readers a way into it. We welcome reported or explanatory ideas, thoughtful comparisons, pieces about regional customs and histories, and practical observations grounded in a specific place. Keep the scope manageable and avoid treating one experience as the voice of a whole region.
Make the pitch specific
Tell us the proposed angle, the main point readers will take away and the context or source material that can support it. Mention any relevant access or limitations, and say whether the idea has been offered elsewhere. A short, focused proposal is more helpful than a full draft sent without an introduction.
How to send it
Use the Contact page and select the editorial option. Include a working title, a concise summary and a way to identify you in your message. We cannot promise publication or a particular response time, and a submitted idea should not be treated as commissioned work unless we agree to that separately.
