Editorial policy
Western News Spotlight aims to publish clear, fair and carefully checked writing about western regional life. We explain our approach, distinguish what is known from what is interpretation, and make changes openly when something needs correction.
Accuracy and context
We check names, dates, quotations and factual claims against suitable source material before publication. We seek context rather than relying on a single vivid detail, and we avoid presenting an anecdote as proof of what an entire community thinks or does. When a claim is uncertain or interpretations differ, we say so in plain language.
Independence
Editorial choices are made for their relevance to readers and the subject, not because a partner prefers a particular conclusion. A collaboration does not buy favourable coverage, and editorial material remains distinct from paid placement.
Corrections
If a reader spots a factual error or a significant omission, they can contact us with the article title and the detail in question. We review the concern, correct confirmed errors and clarify substantial changes in the affected material so readers can understand what changed.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid or partner material is clearly identified near the content it relates to, and partner links are labelled so readers can distinguish them from editorial coverage. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; where that is the case, the illustration is identified as AI-generated and is not presented as documentary evidence.
